"In Coordination With™" is a project I've developed to deepen the connection between local Cincinnati history enthusiasts and the city's historical sites through guided tours and detailed historical insights. As a certified docent at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum, my goal is to illuminate the ties between the cemetery's storied past and other notable historical areas in Cincinnati.
The first installment of this series, "A Legacy of Landscapes," serves as an engaging guide that focuses on the historical links among the Clifton Neighborhood, the Cincinnati Horticultural Society, and Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. This guide is crafted to provide an immersive experience into the intertwined histories of these significant locales.
"A Legacy of Landscapes" is more than just a tour guide; it's a look into the intertwined histories of Spring Grove Cemetery, the Clifton Neighborhood, and the Cincinnati Horticultural Society. With a foreword by Geoff Gelke of the Clifton Historical Society, the guide is filled with well-researched facts and narratives that bring the past to life. Each page is intended to educate and immerse readers in the historical context of the landmarks to explore.
This guide includes a precise map for a walking tour within Spring Grove Cemetery, making it accessible for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The mapped guide is designed to offer a straightforward, self-guided tour experience suitable for various interests and activity levels. It acts as both a physical and chronological journey through the landscape, highlighting key monuments and uncovering the stories they hold.
Scheduled for release in early May 2025, "A Legacy of Landscapes" is the first step in an ongoing effort to bring local history and the beauty of Spring Grove closer to the community and visitors. As this project grows, I plan to introduce more books and tours that provide new insights and deepen the public’s engagement with our region's historical narrative. This guide marks the beginning of what I hope will be a valuable resource for discovering and appreciating Cincinnati history.
